·First and foremost, thanks to the mods for an old dispensation from the 200 post rule, and thanks to OF for the space.
Up for sale is a 145.022-69 Speedmaster, sans bezel. Serial number is 31,3xx,xxx which is in range for a -69. This is a catch and release for me, as you'll notice I bought the watch for the bezel. Given that I am consolidating, have had some big incomings the past few months, and already have a Speedy I love, I can't justify hanging on to this one through the 50th anniversary.
On to the details...
Dial: Original, painted logo, short index, T SWISS MADE T. Lume is still very present albeit with some shrinkage, and holds up under UV as expected. Has aged to a nice color, with minimal darker spotting in the 6 o'clock plot. There is some light spotting on the dial which is relatively unnoticeable when looking at the watch straight on, but does present in certain light/at certain angles - notably in the seconds subdial at the 15 hash-mark, and less so above the minute counter between the 1 and 2 o'clock markers. I have tried to capture this in the photos.
Hands: Assumed original and retaining full lume, matching the dial plots in color and intensity under UV.
Case: The case is good, but I will not say unpolished as I really don't know the history of the watch. The hippocampus and print on the caseback is incredibly sharp, which leads me to think it may have been detailed in the past. With that said, if that is the case, it was not done poorly in my estimation.
Movement: Cal. 861 movement is running well, and was just checked by a watchmaker prior to my purchase. THe warranty I received should carry over, but we can discuss that privately.
Bracelet: This watch will be shipped on a generic leather strap as photographed, or I can include an 1171 bracelet at an additional cost. I will quote both prices in short order.
Bezel: This watch is sold without a bezel. It is a late -69, so I believe a DN90 would be correct in this case.
On to pricing...
I am asking $4,100 for this watch head-only (on strap), or $4,500 on the 1171 bracelet. As always I am open to offers and discussion, but with Speedmaster101 at $3,600 for a "running" example with a DN90, I think this is a pretty fair price, even without the bezel. The price includes fully insured shipping within CONUS (strongly preferred). Local pick-up is also welcome in the NYC area. I may ship internationally on a case by case basis, fully insured only and at the buyer's cost. Acceptable payment methods are Paypal (+3% if you prefer not to use Friends & Family), bank wire, or for local pick-up only, cash. I can provide references relating to purchases from and sales to fellow OF members on request, you should be able to do the same.
Now on to the photos! I can take more upon request. I have some movement shots as well, but am scratching my head trying to figure out how to blur the serial number, so for the time being I would prefer to send those privately. Thanks for looking!
