I agree, the dial, and the 1039 bracelet are in great condition too, and the clasp is very pristine. A couple of questions, has the sweep second hand been replaced with a later version, and what is the purplish material on the back of the case? Thanks for sharing.

Looks all original to me and in great condition. The purplish material on the back of the case is a type of liquid plastic Omega applies to protect the case in shipping. They used to do this up until the mid-70's I believe. My f300 Seamaster still has this type of protective material on the back of the case. 004.jpg

Thank you for your answer, I have never seen the material still on a watch, but my initial thought was that it was some type of protective material use by Omega on the caseback of their watches, much like, Rolex used a sticker on the caseback of their watches.
I assume it is to easy to remove and by leaving in place all these years does not make it any more difficult to remove from the watch or does it?

It is from the only original owner, nothing was ever replaced and it was never serviced.

Good answer...you have a wonderful example of a vintage Speedmaster which I am sure you take joy in sharing it with other watch aficionados.
    Wear in good health.

Great looking Speedy! The hesalite also needs some Polywatch (in addition to the mentioned servicing).

You can buy these protective laquer from any machine spare parts shop. Purple and blue. Maybe even other colours. If you do it right and start at the edge, it might peel off in one piece. Very nice speedy ! Kind regards. Achim

Are you talking about “layout fluid?” I’ve used it and it isn’t something that peels off it’s more like a dye.

Nice watch Juan may your inbox be filled with decent messages.

Hi , I'm not interested in any of that ... I'm just showing the watch as it was purchased as it left the factory. Either way I appreciate your concern. Thank you Juan
