Omega SMP 2264 serial

So i am about to buy a 2264 the serial start with 58 (58680095) which should be made around 1998. Am I right that this watch was produced from 2000? Can somebody help here.

You can’t trust those serial number look up charts (especially for quartz watches). At best, they give you an approximate date within 5 years. At worst, within a decade.

If I recall correctly, the GMT version came out first in 1998 as a 50th Anniversary Edition, then the 2254 and 2264 came out a year later in 1999. But they may have all come out in 1998.

I can’t be sure on the production dates but I’d suggest you review watches for sale online (including completed listings). You should find many examples and I’d check for serial numbers close to the one you’ve shared.

That means your watch is most likely genuine.
