Hi all. Quick question. Does all Omega watches have serial number engraved on it? I couldn't find a serial number on one of my seamaster. It's neither on the back side or is it on the lug. Could it be fake?

    Not externally on vintage watches.

Do you have a picture of the watch?

Normally inside the caseback on vintage Omegas. It needs to be removed to see.
    Edit... And on the movement

Serial numbers on the lug started in the late 80’s/90’s. All have it on the movement.

    edit: 2020

Almost all have it on the movement. There are some 1990’s ish examples that may not.

Thank you all for the reply! it is very helpful.
I have a seamaster professional 300 M chronograph with date cal 1155 (ETA 7750). But it doesnt have a serial number on the lugs or anywhere outside the watch. Here is the inside of the caseback. What do you guys think?

No - watch serial numbers are not on the inside of the case back.

Serial numbers are usually on the case lug, outside of the case back, or on the movement only. In some instances where there is a case serial number, it will be on the inside of the case back, but that will not be the same number as the serial number on the movement.

    Cheers, Al

i distinctly remember having a Speedmaster reduced where the serial number was inked on the caseback and no serial number on the movement.

    Thanks Al,

Rightly or wrongly I wasn’t reading the OP’s quote as literally as you. Of course you are right but I was simply trying to guide a new member to some ways of finding identification to decide if his watch was fake or not. I believed he was using “serial number” as a more generic term. If not and I have confused then apologies.

I don't have a lot of these in the shop, but this one certainly didn't have anything of that sort inside the case back...

Now that you mentioned a printed serial number, I may have seen this once on an older quartz model...but my memory of it is vague so not sure I can confirm.

The Speedmaster reduced (along with a few other movements) don't have serial numbers on the movements.

No worries - just trying to make sure the OP knows that there may not be a serial number inside the case back.

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback.

So what I have understood is, serial number can be in:
    1. Case back
    2. Inside case back
    3. lugs
    4. Movement

All have it on the movement.

After the late 80’s it’s also on the lug.

There are a few speedmasters of a smaller size where the serial is printed on the caseback during a period.
