Hi I purchased the above named watch in April 2021 and due to covid haven't been away since this summer. When away and using this watch in a swimming pool I noticed water had entered the watch face.upon my return I have returned the watch to the Omega store in which I purchased the watch in which they have sent it to Omega for servicing.

they are stating that the water ingress liability is with myself however I do not know how this has occurred as this is a diving watch and no crowns where in an open position, has anyone else heard or experienced this?. the retail store have stated that many costs will be down to me for serving and repair which I find very strange considering I bought a drivers watch and it simply broke in a holiday swimming pool.

any advice would be appreciated.

Yea I’d be insisting warranty cover it, is this an Omega boutique or an authorized dealer?

@Archer I saw a previous answer you gave do you have any insight at all with my issue

I would ask them what it is that you did to cause this. Because both the HEV and crown are water resistant when opened, and the pushers are rated for use under water. Unless there is some visible damage to the crown, HEV or pushers, or evidence that the watch has been opened, they should be covering this.

Just had the call from Omega Boutique, my watch is beyond repair and Omega has stated they will issue me with a replacement watch of the same model, tit will take 2 weeks for it to be authorised and delivered to store for myself to collect and they will pre change my strap to the same size as my previous. I asked if it was brand new watch unworn and unused before which they stated yes. im just after some advice is that normally the case? or do they ever give you a refurbished time piece?

It’s not a super common thing for a total replacement at all, typically they will service and return yours but water intrusion and possible corrosion probably made a replacement make more sense. I don’t know that Omega even has a refurb fleet to offer you a watch from because they’re not really in the business of taking back watches unless they’re too shagged out to bother even trying to fix.

That’s definitely the right outcome and I’m glad it worked out for you, its definitely not a common thing on a new Omega dive watch, old ones with seals that haven’t been changed can lose water resistance but a brand new watch very rarely fails like that from what we’ve seen here (and people would complain often if they did).
