·Hello Guys
I would like to show you my Bezel Restoration attempt on my 165.024. i bought the watch with the original Bezel but the Lume under the acrylic insert was in a Green almost black colour. I looked in the Internet for a replacement and Found a guy that is producing replacements so i thought i might give it a try to relume the bezel myself.
The hardest Part was to get the old insert out of the bezel. I used a scalpel and lifted it out on the Point where the bezelinsert was already cracked then i gently slided the thin blade under the insert and lifted it out slowly. In that process i unfortunately cracked it two more times. Especialy the Part with the minute stripes is really fragile. After i removed the insert i sanded it down a Little bit to remove some of the old black paint. Then i removed the old lume with a needle. I should have done this better because you can See in the result that some numbers are a Little Bit thin. Then i mixed new lume. I used superluminova and binder and a modell kit enamel paint in the exakt aged tritium colour as the dial. I pressed the Lume in with tothpicks. Afterwards i painted the bezel from the back with gloss varnish. After drying i painted it with black Model kit enamel paint from revel. I pressed it in the bezel again and was finished. Afterwards i relumed the hands using the same superluminova mix. I Hope this Description was helpfull. I will probably buy the replacement but i was an interesting try. edit: i but the insertparts in the bezel backwards to work on it.
