    Howdy OF,

I'm considering getting a Seamaster (212.30.41.20.03.001 or 2254.50 - depending if I am going new or used) or a Tudor BB36. I think I like the smaller size and am looking for essentially a daily driver, travel watch, under or around 2k. Thoughts?

My suggestion is to go for the 2254.50! It seems like this watch is getting more attentions from collectors.

I’ve had all three and the only survivor is my 2254. All great watches though so you have to see which one speaks to you. I actually loved that watch so much that I bought the 2264 to wear as a daily beater lol.

Tudor is a nice watch. The omega is imho too thin and I am not happy with the proportions. I would go for the Tudor.

I have a 14060m which is similar to the BB36 and a 2254.50, both are great, bang for buck the 2254 would be better (under 2k USD so literally HALF the price of the 36!) at this point but they do wear quite differently. If your wrist is under 6 inches I might lean toward the BB but both are great options. I love the slenderness of the 2254 but 42mm does wear a lot different and is borderline large for my 5.5 inch wrist.

The idea of selling my 2254.50 for a BB36 has been floating in my head for months... My brain keeps telling me it's a downgrade.

BB36 is a cracking watch imo.

But I'd probably try to find some extra $$$ and get yourself a 14270 or 114270 instead!

Yeah, I have to agree. The 36 is a lovely watch, but I miss my old 1120 Seamaster Pros. Both are going to cost about the same to service from their respective manufacturers. I’d keep the Omega and add the Tudor, or perhaps send the Omega off for service and get it back looking virtually new. I find getting a watch back from a full service is a lot like getting a new watch.

Agreed. Looking forward to sending off my SMP non-AC for service and getting back a minty example.

I have never worn the BB36, and they are definitely different sized watches, but I am a huge fan of the 2254.50. Great lume, slim profile, very comfortable and extremely versatile.

Thanks for encouraging me to keep my 2254.50, folks! I'm wearing it right now on a Hirsch Accent rubber strap.

...and it pairs well with my 3570.50. :)

This the Omega forum, so I am sure most people are going to advice you to go toward the 2254.50, I am sure you would get very different answers on the Rolex forum. I think you need to try them both, especially if it going to be your daily watch, you want it to be a great fit for your wrist. I don’t think Tudor watches are a downgrade to Omega. Actually, dollar for dollar I think Tudor watches quality wise are hard to beat, and you probably get the most bang for the buck, the finish is amazing. Everything about them scream quality. That said, you can’t go wrong with either. The nice thing with the Omega, is it has the date but the bb 36, I feel , is more stylish and elegant... Two very different watches.

    Yeah fair point everyone.
    Thanks for all your thoughts.
Definitely biased to Omega (as am I typically given my collection) but am looking to change things up a bit...

I had a BB36 and I never fall in love with it, simply I don't like how it looks on wrist. On the other hand, I love the 2254.50 ::love::::love::
So for me there is no doubt in your choice! But they are very different , with a different scope of work, first I suggest to focus well on "what kind of watch are you searching"..

I'd go 2254.50, its actually a superb watch and one of the nicest and most durable divers you can buy at that price point.
