These late 50s black dials age in an interesting way. This is one I owned and sold last year (2849, cal503) and the speckled effect is very pleasing. OP looks to have a nice watch.

Cheers, Chris

What intrigues me is whether Omega used the slot markers on watches sans lume like we see in in the OP and if so why the lume hands?
Most interesting. I was under the impression these maple bar markers were fitted with ebony.

Now I'm really curious about mine.

Definitely lume on yours.

AFAIK in this period they could be either radium or tritium. In the early 60's there was no requirement for the 't's on the dial, this requirement was introduced a bit later in I think '64 or '65

He's a very recent SM arrival of mine showing the same characteristics.

Hello and welcome.

It's quite a nice example, but what makes you think that the dial is very rare?
I think the dial is very special because it's first of all pitch black only the hands have lume and it's an original dial. Can't find watches like this nowadays

1500 Bitcoin is wayyyyyy too much for this watch. That is 15,325,492.50 US Dollar or 313,725,038,085.00 São Tomé & Príncipe Dobra!
(We're an international bunch -- currency please?)

Damn. I thought these markers . . .

First off, it's not ebony - if there are markers with inlaid, black material it will be onyx. Secondly, if it is onyx it will stand slightly proud of the marker, like on this:

Third point; the strips on your examples aren't even black - there is no mistaking the pitch black of the onyx inlay.

Not only is it time for a new loupe, but I'm literally a half hour away from leaving home for my annual ophthalmology exam.

Sure looked like wood grain, but then, I'm predisposed.

These look like potential custom cue-sticks 😉
