i bought a pre owned seamaster professional 300 with ceramic bezel and flat blue dial. the watch had been worn a few times and then sat in a box for over 4 years until i bought it. i wound the watch to get it started and then put it on a watchwinder at night but it keeps stopping. it has stopped while im wearing it and even on the watchwinder. has anyone experienced this?

You should probably have it checked out.
I will but wondered if anyone had experienced similar as can’t imagine it’s not good to let an automatic watch just sit in a box for several years without being worn or going on a watchwinder

Makes me wonder if the seller put in the box for four years because it was displaying this problem. And then failed to disclose it.

I think the only thing you can do now is have it serviced. Could be a problem with the rotor and auto winding portion, or could be something more. A service will sort it out.

Return it if you can. Sucks to buy something only to spend time and money fixing it

I had the same thing happen when I bought a tag heuer monaco calibre 12. It would stop at random times and it was a part that cost £30 ish needed replaced. I really like the look of the omega so want it to be fixed as I want to keep it

Yeah, except Omega is a different game and you're looking at around £430 for a full service. Very few watchmakers will take apart your watch and examine each component to see if it is okay. At that point, might as well get that full service.

definitely not from Omega if it were sitting in the box for 4-years, which is the warranty period back then (5 now)

Sounds like he bought it from a pre-owned place that gives a warranty on their watches. Most of the online dealers do this, as do bricks and mortar stores. If he likes the watch and the price paid he might as well have it repaired under warranty.

I bought from a shop that gives 12 minutes nth guarantees so it will go back to omega for a full service at no expense to myself

I had a similar issue once after picking up a 'NOS' Seamaster mid-size years ago from a grey dealer in the UK. Brick and mortar shop, guarantee was honored w/o issue, sent to Omega for full service and returned with receipt to the shop then myself. That shop is gone now, but if the dealer you purchased from does similarly it should be a fairly painless fix. Mine was back to me within about 6 weeks total and worked flawlessly for close to a decade after before unfortunately being stolen. Best of luck!

I took it to shop today and it will be fixed and then returned to me, no charge.

Excellent, happy to read that. Instead of worrying about the time lost, think of the free service that you're getting as an extra discount!
