Hi All

Any help greatly appreciated...

A link has broken on my mesh bracelet. I have spare links. But am struggling to see how the pin that connects the links comes in or out - or how to do. The pin seems to me a wider diameter in the middle, and thinner at the end - so I can't see how I would push it through the link. See attached pics of the watch, broken link, spare link and pin.

It looks like a small bit of the link has simple broken off. I have 4 of these watches (different colours and years) but this is my everyday watch - and has been battered and bruised over the years.

OOof, it seems the answer from some quick research is pretty awful, but I can't imagine that is how Omega does it:

THAT SAID: it looks like it is a bit of a 'loose' fit to me on the outside links, and the center being thicker is how it is held in place via tension. I suspect a bracelet pin tool would still be able to push it out.

That is, I suspect that the 'thick' part of the pin actually fits through at least one of the 'outside' link holes.

Thanks. Just ordered a very similar tool to the one in your link. I’ll give it a go. I’ve tried pushing the pin through the outside of the links - won’t go through. But the tool may help force it. After all … there can be no other way the pin gets in there. Fingers crossed as I love this watch - she’s been to hell and back with me - always though I’d die first - not the watch 🤣

The more I look at the picture of the pin, it looks like it has a 'one way' kinda deal? At least the right side in your photo might be 'point' that is supposed to 'go in' first?

You might try using the pin you have out + the broken side link and seeing if you can proof that out to yourself.

Thanks for your help and advice.... my tool thing arrived this afternoon from Amazon. Used it to push a pin out from a good spare link. Super interesting ... the pin came out in 2 parts ... 1 thin (ish) pin full length and then a shorter sleeve / barrel that slides over the main full length pin. The sleeve is just held on by friction. Putting the pin back in - so easy - place the sleeve inside the part of the link, then back the other link on, then push the pin through the outside, through the sleeve and all the way to other side.

The picture of my pin above looks like a solid unit - thinner at the ends - but that's not the case - its 2 parts. A sleeve on the pin in the middle. Quite clever design.
