Hi!
I'm new to this group. I have some watches that I want to sell, but as I've heard different things about it I'm afraid someone will scam me.
In an online forum they said this watch was worth alot, then someone in a store said it was just gold plated and it was worth less than what I though.
I would really appreciate it if someone could guide me, I am just wondering how low is too low when it comes to a selling price?
I got this watch from my grandmother when she passed, so I don't have any papers on it unfortunately.
Thank you😀

Hi there and welcome. I’ll chime in but with forum advice, not valuation. OF is a strong community, a place to share a passion and expertise, and for some of us, the education never ends and the experience of those collectors with deep knowledge is invaluable. You came to the right place but before one of the old guard gives you the cane, let me jump in! Simply showing up with a watch asking ‘what is it worth’ isn’t a popular first meeting opener. One of us will tell you a rough estimate and you’re off the eBay land never to be seen again. That’s not cricket, as they say.

Now, there’s a wee magnifying glass up top. Use it. You can narrow which threads to review. There you’ll find a poop-ton of information on these and one thing you’ll find is these SMDVs are the gateway drug of new collectors. I wanted one so badly when I joined OF a few years back! If interested, any buyer wants more than a glancing photo. Straight on shots, movement (you may need to visit your local watchmaker), case, crown, caseback etc.

Your grandmother? Was this lovely piece your grandfather’s by any chance? Either way, it’s got some legacy.

So as I see, this is not a popular post. I have several watches and I'm interested in learnig about watches and the trade.
Sorry for starting off with what I learned was a bad post, the title of the tread fooled me a bit.
I will delete this post tomorrow.

Oh, not at all! Not a bad post, per se. You’re not the first which is why I jumped in. This is definitely the place to learn. Learn is the operative word.
