    Morning,

Just curious as to what the opinions on this dial would be, like the piece but need to make sure it'll clean up well with a proper service/cleaning. Anyone have exp. with this type of tarnishing? Seems common enough from humidity ect. but not sure how value/servicing is changed by this issue. I appreciate any help given!

    Best,

    Thomas

Safe assumption is that dials can never be cleaned up.

Sure you post a lot man.

Looks like you misunderstood my post. I was asking if anyone has been able to get this type of tarnishing off without any issues? Have you had prior experience with this type of issue on a dial?

    Very keen observation,

I have a couple of watches with dials like this. You just have to leave them as they are. Trying to clean them up will ALWAYS spoil them. If you want mint, pass this one by.

That's what I was looking for,

Thank you. I appreciate your help. I've seen several pieces with the exact same type of tarnishing & did not know if it was something that was easily cleaned off or better to be left. Looks like this will not be a new acquisition.

Understood, misread his post. If there's opportunity to get a bargain due to condition & then to solve said condition issue, I'm there.

Wanted to fully understand this specific type of condition issue since I see it so often.

I assume there's two types, blistering/corrosion of the dial plate and bubbling of the lacquer.

Either way, there's a very good chance you'll ruin the dial.
