Omega Seamaster De Ville, correct hand set?

Dear OF Members

I have seen a few Omega Seamaster De Ville watches before, but never one with this hand set / indexes combination. (The seller won't open the watch, which I understand, since these are "frontloader" cases, so I don't have a Ref. or a Cal.)

I have seen such "plaine" hands for example on a Ref. 14770 (is an Omega Seamaster in an Omega Seamaster De Ville case, a transitional model, one is for sale here on the forum).

The question here is, the indexes at 12 / 3 / 6 / 9 o'clock are painted black ( I have never seen that not all indexes are painted black). Now I wonder, should the hands also have black lacquer applied?

The second hand looks reddish, but this would not bother me as long as the hour and minute hands were correct.

What do you guys think about this hand combination?

Best thanks in advance, I always appreciate the great help here on the forum!

The handset is fine. It's a little odd that the cardinal indices seem to be onyx inset while the rest are faceted, but it could just be a dial variation. I think standard baton hands (the ones present) or batons with black-filled cutouts would both be acceptable for this. Without firm reference, though there isn't really any way to be sure.

Thank you very much for your thoughts on the hand set / indexes. I guess I'll try to pull the trigger on this one. Thank you and have a nice Sunday!

Sure thing! Also – not sure if you already know this or not – this particular SMDV appears to be a manual version. You mentioned not having a reference number, but you can tell by the lack of the 'AUTOMATIC' script below Omega.

Thank you very much, I was aware of that and I really appreciate the fact that it's a manual wind (or should be) since I like winding my watches every morning, bringing life into them 😀
