Omega Seamaster de Ville - Authentic?!

Dear all,

I've been eyeing this Omega Seamaster de Ville, though I'm a bit credulous of its authenticity. What pops out is the "S" of Seamaster being more stretched and with a gap relative to the "e". Can this be an authentic model?

Additionally, if anyone has any idea of the Omega model on the left it would be amazing to know.

Any opinions would be much appreciated! 😀

That’s a terrible picture but from what I can see the dial is legitimate. However, it’s in poor condition, the case seems polished and the crown is wrong. I wouldn’t be rushing to buy it.

I'll try to get better pictures of it. Would this be a watch to pay ~450-500€ for?
Any idea of the Omega on the left? Supposedly it's a 1930s model.

If it’s solid gold (I assume not) I’d pay slightly under scrap price.

Assuming it’s gold fill, I simply wouldn’t buy it. Better to pay slightly more for a better one.

I certainly wouldn’t buy it in that condition. The dial is too far gone for me.

Could be late 1930/40s.

We're happy to help but please help us help you and give us some decent photos in the future.

The Omega on the left looks similar to a ref 2272.

Thanks all for the replies! I've managed to go back to the store and snap some additional pictures. The store's lighting isn't perfect but they're way more legible now.

Would any of these two watches be worth the purchase? I'm currently more inclined to the Seamaster De Ville.

The SMDV is in a rough state, not just the damaged dial, but the gold-capped case has been polished and beaten-up significantly, so that the base material comes through at the tip of the lugs. It's definitely not worth 400-500$, I'd say rather a fourth of that.

The other one far outside of my level of expertise, the wonky finishing of the printing on the dial etc would make me believe it's a redial, though. I'm sure some more educated opinions on this example will follow in a bit.

Save up a little and get yourself a nice example. For 400-500$, cool Omegas can be found. Just not in this very shop, it seems.

I was going to reply but @MtV has already said exactly what I was going to write.

I would agree with what has already been said, keep looking, there's good stuff out there within your budget.

Side note: looks like what might be a Portuguese import mark on the upper left lug.

I actually mistook the price, it would be (post-negotiation) 300€, is it really not worth it? All the SMDV's that I seen online are in +600€ price range.
The two watches have roughly the same price, is the Teddington ref. 2272 not worth it too?

This is indeed in a Portuguese store, so it could be definitely be!

If you like it and want to buy, that’s all that matters. Buy it.

It’s a dog of a watch though and you can get much better.

you’re right a good DeVille will be 500-600 minimum but pretty much everyone on this forum would rather pay the extra for a nicer watch.

Personally I wouldn't buy the Seamaster at any price, just too much of a mess.

The 2272 for that price would be a decent buy even with the refinished dial (which actually isn't that bad), but they are very different watches. You really need to decide what you like, and not base your purchase on just what's sitting in front of you at the moment.

Agree, I'll pass on this one. I think I was too fixated on the SMDV and was jumping to the first opportunity, even if it was crappy.
Thanks for the tips, greatly appreciated!
