Hi,

I have just added a lovely 1964 (Birth Year) Omega Seamaster De Ville Automatic, in all-round excellent condition, to my collection, and I was wondering what your views are on this watch and if there is any further information you could give me about it.

I bought it from a very reputable Vintage watch retailer in the UK.

The details of the watch as far as I know are :-

The watch was serviced by Omega recently, with the date on the Omega Service Documentation showing as 09/04/21, obviously it has the remainder of the 2 year Omega Warranty to run.

Serial Number : 21,nnn,nnn which dates it to 1964 (i think)

Case Number / Ref # : 1650020 / 165.020 (from the OMEGA Service Documentation)

Case size : 34.5 mm

Stainless Steel

Dial : Silver, Black & Gold batons

Calibre : 552 - from research, but no idea if this is correct, can you help ?

The retailer advised that the watch case and movement are original but Omega have replaced a small number of parts during the servicing process including the crystal, hands, crown and a few movement parts.

The strap & buckle are new Omega replacements.

The retailer believed the dial has been restored in the past due to its excellent condition but the if was not done by Omega at the latest service

Anyway, thanks for reading this post.

I love it, but I know there may be some that won’t, for whatever reason.

What do you think, what do you know ? Thanks.

Cheers

John.

That is a stunning watch and the textured dial is unique. I also like gold hands/markers with a stainless steel case.

A beautiful watch. I have a different model of SdV and love it.
The experts on here will know if it’s a redial. What jumps out for me is the space between “omega” and “automatic” - but others will know much better.

IMO, it is a redial, but better than most.

I can’t tell much about the textured dial as the pictures lack detail.

In the 4th photo down from the top, on the red and white cloth background, the dial surface looks like like it has a coarse-woven cloth texture.

When I look at the automatic writing it does seem a little off but that is a really interesting textured dial. Quite unique

The dial probably had more dramatic texture before it was painted over.
