Omega Seamaster Chronograph's (Wave Dials): When were they released?

Hi, I'm considering purchasing an used Omega Seamaster Chronograph, with either a blue or black dial. What year was the wavy models released? I remember back in 1995, when I bough my Rolex Sub, seeing them at the stores, but don't know how many years they had already in the market by then (back then, think MSRP was about $2k). What would be the model of the first generation? I asked since want to look for one on the $1200-1400 range and imagine would have to be that old to be on that budget range. (can even be without the bracelet since may put a rubber band on it)
