Hi,

there is a nice looking Seamaster Chronograph 105.004 for sale at the auction at Antiquorum next weekend.

It's written that the hands are original. In my opinion the hands may be original Omega hands but I don't think the watch was sold with those -> I am quite sure that the hands were changed afterwards (service hands).

I don't understand why they quote the quality of the movement and don't show pics.

All in all I would prefer more than one pic for bidding on such a watch. (I can't verify whether the crown is original)

Serial number seems a bit low but might be within the range.

What are your thoughts on this Seamaster chrono.
Thanx
Duffy

For the record:

The case looks polished and I think the pushers are Speedmaster service pushers for 105.012-65 et al.

It’s probably a period-correct service dial, but it’s not a redial. Note OMEGA differences and the slightly heavier printing on it.

I’d pass, even though 60’s Seamaster chronographs without tachometer scales are much less common than those with.

Oh, and the serial number is a little early for a -64 completed in 1965.

Here’s as close as I come to it, a 105.005-65, 24535688, March 1967

and a 105.001-62, 22081884, April 1965

Thanks @airansun and @Risto for your feedback.

I must admit that I didn't recognize before that the pushers might not be original.

What's your opinion on the hands. Lume doesn't match with the lume at the markers. Not sure if the lume colour points to a service dial.

By the way nice collection @airansun (and if I am correct there are still more of the with you)

I doubt that the crown is original

Impressive collection- when did you start with it

I am heading for my first Seamaster Chrono.

Curious on how high the chrono will go today.

Even it is not the nicest example I am quite sure it won't get hammered under CHF 3500.

You can and should request more pictures of anything you're considering bidding on, whether at Antiquorum or elsewhere. I requested pics of two lots from today's auction and quickly decided against bidding. I would have made a rather regretful error if I had relied only on the description or the two pics they chose to post.

After all I have read about Antiquorum I would never do business with them.

I didnn`t bid on the chrono as I wasn`t that sure about this example - don`t even know what it was hammered for

Just out of interest - which lots you were interested in?

Lot 153 appears to have hammered for CHF 3000.

I considered lot 55 (LeCoultre triple date moonphase) until I saw the replacement bridge & wonky crown. It sold for at least a thousand over what I thought it was worth. Also looked at #223 (Longines 'Dirty Dozen'), one of which sold for CHF 3200 earlier this year. Once it crossed the US$2k mark, I decided against bidding into a non-matching case & caseback. I liked the looks of some of the vintage Heuers (30, 42, 51), but I wasn't prepared to pay what I knew they'd go for so I didn't even bother requesting more information. I knew I wouldn't get close to #188, Vacheron TDMP, so I didn't bother there either.

At a minimum, other complaints aside, Antiquorum is not the place to go looking for a deal.

Thought it would go higher - CHF 3750 incl buyers premium
