·Hi OF. Been a while, but now getting back into buying watches. Don't know if this is considered "vintage" or modern, but I have an opportunity to purchase this SeMPC Ti for a good price.
The seller stated this watch is from 1985, since the serial number starts with 486xxxxx, which matches the "Titane" case. However, with some research I know these SeMPC Ti Chronos around this serial number were sold starting 1995 or so up to 2000 even. This has the caliber 1154 (instead of the 1164) which is the older model and also has yellowing of tritium markers, instead of super-lume.
Just wondering for pricing sake and collectability (since I know these were pretty popular) if the older cal. 1154 (which was the one in Chuck Maddox's) and tritium is more valuable/collectible than the cal. 1164 with super-lume. If it doesn't matter, then should I just find one with the "better quality" caliber and super-lume that still glows? Having taken a look, there is some glow to this tritium one. The SeMPC Ti may not be a vintage...yet...but is this a good buy if I were able to get this one under $2k?
