    Update:

I've had some feedback about the condition of this watch, and all the points made are fair. I have tried to be upfront about the shortcomings of the watch, but it seems that I have been optimistic in my opening price. As a result, I'm going to drop the price to $5900 USD and go from there. I appreciate the comments I have received so far. The watch is not in mint condition, but it is still a great watch and great for daily/regular wear. It is a worn watch and has lived a life - it's obviously not a safe queen. I'm happy to discuss reasonable offers too, so if you're considering this watch, please PM me for a chat.

    Thanks all!

    Hi all,

For sale is my Omega Holy Grail, reference 376.0822.

If you know Speedmasters, you probably know about this reference.

For those that don't, this is what Chuck Maddox affectionately called The Holy Grail. It is the classic Omega Moonwatch case (though a bit taller) with an automatinc Omega 1045 movement (a re-branded Lemania 5100) which includes Chronograph function, Day/Date indicator and 24 hour indicator at 12 o'clock (note: this is not a second timezone) and hacking seconds. The chronograph seconds and minutes are displayed on the main part of the dial (with the main Hour and Minute hands) with a 12 hour recorder at the 6 o'clock position. This movement layout is highly legible and the execution of it in the moonwatch style is killer.

I bought this watch last year. I wore it quite frequently as I really like it. The case is a classic, and the dial layout is very readable and full of complications. It comes with the expected Omega 1450 steel bracelet which is also in good shape, though the end links are the 808 replacements. I replaced the original day/date wheels with English ones. the original (I think Spanish) ones can be provided if desired.

Overall, the watch is in pretty good condition. It appears to be unpolished. It has some dents and dings from use which i've tried to show in the pictures. The crystal could use a little polishing. Note that what you may see in the pictures as marks on the dial are actually shadows from marks in the crystal. The chronograph works as expected and resets to zero properly. I had the watch in for service late last year. I can provide the receipt for the work if desired.

There are a few issues that I'd like to highlight.

Lume is missing at the 3 o'clock (a smaller plot) and 5 o'clock positions. these have been filled in with some luminous material. Under a loupe, it looks like it was painted on. These spots glow (as do the other markers and the hands) very faintly when exposed to light and then subjected to darkness. The rest of the markers appear to be original as far as I can tell.

the Reset pusher might be incorrect. I'm not totally sure. It seems to stick out a little more than it should. This should be an easy fix if so desired as the pushers are still available.

The 1450 usually comes with a quick release pin on the clasp end of the bracelet. This bracelet doesn't have the quick release pin, but instead, a pressure fit pin. It has never been a problem, it's just harder to take the clasp off (if you ever need to do that).

I'm asking $5900 USD (was $6800) via wire or paypal (FF/Gift, or we can talk about fees), and I'm open to reasonable offers. I usually ship using FedEx through ParcelPro, but we can discuss other options if you have something in mind. The watch is currently in Toronto, Canada and will ship once funds clear.

Here's a couple of references for sales I have done:

perfect transaction with oddboy (here on OF)
oddboy is a recommended seller (here on OF)
amazing deal with wus member: oddboy (WUS)
and some ebay feedback - yes, the Pebble counts as a watch.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

    here's the pictures!

Did you get lucky finding something cooler or get in trouble with the Mrs?

    Apparently, you're like me!

I'm always sad, too, when I sell a watch that I truly loved.

Seems a bit silly, but the truth is, you can always buy another one... I know, I know, small consolation at the moment, but the pain subsides over time...

Congrats to both of you on giving the watch a new, loving owner!

Possibly the single greatest watch of all time. Raw utility + brand + case shape + bracelet + rarity + design language + legibility.

This bump in the sales thread triggered the add to pop up on watch recon and I almost fell out of my chair trying to buy as fast as I could until realizing this was from 2015! ::facepalm2:: How did I miss this back then! ::censored:: Great watch though oddboy.
