Hello!

I just picked up one of my grail watches:
• Omega Seamaster Cermet ”Black Tulip” Ladies
• Reference: 1960249
• Size: 26x28 mm
• Year: 1982 (?)

Note that it is the smaller ladies sized version. Doing some research about this is that only about 700-800 of these watches were ever made. Maybe someone can help me out with a few additional questions I have about it?

Clearly it is New Old Stock and never previously worn. However, what is confusing me a little after comparing to images of this watch online is:
1. Why is the crown not the classic Omega stamped silver crown?
2. Why is there not a seconds hand? And why are the hands not thin like the ones I found online?
3. I found that some of these watches have a white date wheel while other have a black date wheel, any reason for this?
4. How do I find out the exact year of this watch?

I attached some images I have taken and what I found online.

My thinking is that the watch was never ”finished” and actually never sold to a customer? But I have no idea, please give some input if you have any!

Great looking watch. Strange about the hand set, missing seconds hand and wrong crown and I have no idea what happened there only that I'd say these changes more than likely happened after it left the factory and not before.

As for dating the watch, you have a the info you need on the paper tag. The 45 xxx xxx number there I'd say is the movement serial number which dates to 1982. You will need to check that the tag number corresponds to your watch of course to confirm.

Neat watch but curious, esp with the non crown and other changes.

Wear it and enjoy! Go hunting for a crown to get it back to spec.
