hello everyone I'm new to this forum, and it is the greatest omega forum. Your work its fantastic, and i'm learning every day something new. I want to buy my first vintage omega, and i need your help. This is a semaster cal 351 with original glass, is the dial original, or is it refinished? Thats something wrong? How much can be its value? Thank you very much and an happy new year !!! Donato
http://naligazone.com/index.php/data-watch/omega/caliber-3/cal-351/ck-2577 Google that and see what you find for costs. Honestly, I'm not sure about the dial. There are others on the site than can tell you, with certainty, whether its a redial or not. It sure looks clean for a 60 year old watch.
Hands are right but dial concerns me a bit. Very fresh looking for age based on the photos. Also odd for hands to look so aged but dial doesn't. Price probably $200 to $650 depending on whether it needs a service and state of the dial.
Original. Lume in hands and dial match nicely and I've seen near perfect dials with aged hands, doesn't bother me at all.
Radium for sure. Watch is older than 1960. Read the article below, with special emphasis on the "Applications" section. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radium gatorcpa
Thank you.. What about "swiss"? Why doesn't it seem to be so perfect? Can be the glass distorsion? Thank you
The 9 marker in the first and second photo and the 8 marker in the second photo are big reasons I think dial has been redone.
I don't like the glob of ink on the "G", but still, I feel original, all within acceptable variances. Hey, we all have bad days, even in Bienne!
I'm concerned by the "globby" look at 9 and how the marker material goes outside the line at 8. Makes me suspect redial. I blew up on my iPhone hope that helps.
You will do well here, sir! We need constant vigil. I still would vote original, but you have me thinking......
The first A with the automatic looks a bit wider then usual. Dial just too nice to have no radiation burn?? My opinion would be redial.
