Greetings. I'm new to the Omega world and have inherited this watch from my father. I don't know much about it, except that it needs a new crystal and gasket for the back cover. The back cover reads C2576-4. How do I remove the stem to access the crystal? Any help is appreciated. 20160413_110212_resized.jpg 20160413_110241_resized.jpg 20160413_110508_resized.jpg

Unscrew that screw that is nearest to stem. You can see that it has bold head. Unscrew only 1 or maybe 2 round and stem with crown will go out.

I do not recommend to do it by yourself. It looks super easy.....but its not ☺

Is there someone you could suggest that would be able to replace it for me? I've checked all the jewelers around here and none know how.

Of course I went ahead and tried. The stem comes out a mm or 2, but then will not remove. I don't want to force anything. 20160413_115708_resized.jpg

while unscrewing (1 or 2 rounds) you need to push down(not too much) screw with screwdriver and pull stem out.

Why are you playing with it? Leave it as is until you find a watchmaker to fix it if thats what you want.

The crystal is a pressure fit type and you need a press to install it. Removing it without a replacement leaves the dial exposed which could get damaged and end up costing you more money to fix.

Crown is also not original, so add a new crown and winding stem into the cost.

Press down on screw, push the crown and stem back in, put the back on and leave it alone or you'll be selling it as a parts watch after you break something that's discontinued.

Got it out. So what is the next step to access the crystal?

Post your location and maybe someone can suggest a watchmaker.

Seems odd that you own a crystal press, but need to ask how to remove a stem

Abigndon, VA. I used to work on pinball machines and figured except for the size, they should be similar. I ordered a press off of Amazon.
