I dont know ı asked the watchmaker if I should have it polished and he said he would do better than polishing and delivered it this way.
Definitely polished I think. Compare to the original photos.

Don't you think it's better? I think it's a good polish, even if it's polished.

Yes, I checked, it's polished, but I think it's a good polish when you look at the old unpolished state.

Given that the case back was in such poor shape, I can understand why you want to have it refinished. It looks to be as though the medallion may have been polished and is less detailed now than it was - it might have been better to have left that as it was. It’s your watch, so what others think really doesn’t matter. If you’re happy with it, that’s what counts!

The medallion was not polished, only around it. I would never want the medallion polished.

Yes sir, I have it done by a master I know in Istanbul as I want and he does it with a very fine workmanship, he knew not to touch the medallion.

I had it cleaned. What do you think?
Obviously it has been refinished, with significant material removed. And the beveled edge of the case-back used to be sharp, now it is not. But if you prefer the new appearance, that's the only thing that matters. There's really no reason to ask us. Hopefully they didn't touch the medallion, I know you say that it was not touched, but I think you are just taking that on faith.

It’s taken a turn on a lathe and been refinished. You can see how much material they removed when comparing the before and after images. The case back notches now extend into the flat surface of the caseback, where they didn’t before. This reduced the size of the polished beveled edge.

No, the medallion was never touched. You can see this by looking at the photo. Polishing a locket is something that affects the value of a watch. Why would I say such a thing to fool myself? I know the watchmaker personally, I've had my watches polished before, he just went over the scratches and blemishes, that's all.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but I think it's a good thing that it's been polished like this compared to how it was before. If there were only scratches on the lid, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but it was stained. I think that's something that affects its value.
