That concentric / crosshair / sonar dial How long does a noob have to wait before they can start throwing out “dibs”?! That’s amazing. Great thread, thanks @PlainVanilla
That's absolutely perfect, thank you! I suspected some of them were from the second wave, at the beginning of the seventies. Pretty odd pieces as they show "Seamaster DeVille" on the dial although the DeVille line split up from the Seamaster line in the end of 1967. I added them to the main thread. Thank you again man! It will be a pleasure to wear your watch. I found out about that concentric dial version because I actually saw that very watch for sale, but I was looking for a solid gold watch. FYI, it went for £1,695. The watch was pricey for a steel cased watch, and I think most collectors thought the dial wasn't original and passed on it. It actually is original, and very hard to come across. Someone is proudly wearing it right now, I wonder if that person is on the forum.
This steel clamshell on a ref. 14915 with a manual wound cal. 600 and a replacement crystal is currently listed at 2.200 €: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/22516903024...v9rny4bt-e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPYPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network And this 14kt solid white gold Seamaster DeVille with a diamond dial won't go cheap. Still a week to go and already fetching more than $1.000: https://www.ebay.fr/itm/23471586291...v9rny4bt-e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPYPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Nice thread. For what you call “mattress” or “diamond” dial, you mentioned that “I have only seen this special dial on American Seamaster DeVille references.” maybe you miss my constellation
Very uncommon to see full applied numerals. This being a 166.020, ca 1963, caliber 560, making it even more uncommon.
Gorgeous! How many cal. 560 are there around? I've heard there are only a few but I can't remember the approximate number.
You guys are blowing me away with your examples posted here! Fantastic thread. I only have one example, a "ribbon" dialed version from '61.
Generally believed to have been 3000 produced spread across an ever widening list of references. http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com/2009/07/unearthed-more-omega-calibre-560.html
Yeah, the aim was to create an absolute orgy of a thread. Very cool example you have here. Love the mix of a ribbon dial, sub-seconds and beads of rice. I just found a picture of a golf ball (the fish scales version) with applied Arabic numerals:
There’s various threads suggesting the applied arabic dials were UK market specials. I don’t know if this is true but it would make sense as they seem to be more prevalent here. I’ve had a couple. One SM600 and one 166.003. I’ll try and dig out some pics.
I absolutely love these. Actually I was currently trying to find good pictures of Seamaster DeVilles and Seamaster 600s with applied Arabic numerals to add them to the thread.
Mine was ref.14777 with the gold cap case. For the golfer dial. How about this dial’s style in the ref.2577?
I add the dial’s pattern that can be found in both constellation (I saw around 5 watches) and seamaster (only one of mine?). So sorry that I didn’t know the reference of my seamaster de ville. Also, this pattern from my omega ref.2577
