Watch is definitely authentic, probably a UK model

No point in getting a new authentic strap, spend 1/8 of the money on a vintage buckle instead

Last night it got to me again. I love the thrill of a watch being sold privately with very poor pictures and very little information. The good experiences with such purchases clearly outweigh the bad ones.

Last night I bought a (presumably) 14701 gold capped, I've attached the best picture 😎 - please keep your fingers crossed that the ribbon dial is OK.

Doesn't look like there is any spotting to me. That's usually the biggest issue with these dials.

Your word in God's ear (I hope that's how you say it in English). The watch will hopefully be with me in a few days, it still has a few thousand kilometers to go. These dials are so rare in Europe that I couldn't resist 😀.

It's all fun and games until you meet real corrosion, worst yet, paired with a perfect dial kept hostage with seized dial screws 😀

Boy is that true. Corrosion is the first thing that I look for when evaluating any prospective vintage watch purchase.

Hello everyone,

the watch has just arrived - the dial is quite nice, has only minimal patina on some indexes. The rose gold case is very nice - except for the small deep flaw on the upper right horn. 😵‍💫 Unfortunately, I can't open it with the rubber ball or silicone opener.

Do you think it is possible to repair the defect on the horn? If not, I would rather try to return it.

Just a few quick (bad) photos under artificial light.

Hello ! I thought this defect looked like an importation mark but that doesn't make sense of a steel+gold watch.

It's not a defect, the rose color paired with the lug import stamp is typical of a region, but I can't remember which region, either Portugal or Brasil, I think Brasil

The staining on the dial is not the appealing kind though, I think more reason to return if there was a return option

It's great that the hallmark is struck in such an inconspicuous place . 😗

Mhm the watch itself is really very nice, the edges are sharp. The rose gold also looks great and the patina on the indexes is not noticeable when worn. I'll have to think about what to do . How do you realistically estimate the value? I paid around €600...

I’m not seeing an import stamp on the lug unless my phone screen it’s too small to see the detail.

Just looks like damage to me. Perhaps from some idiot checking if it’s solid gold.

If you google "Portuguese Import Stamp" - which I did just now as well, being lazy too - it turns out it was all watches during a timeframe

There's very little chance this is not it

Agree - here is a stamp in the exact same (horrible) location.

As a perspective, I actively seeked a C-Case with a Portuguese Import Stamp - so I don't think that affects the value and maybe makes it a conversation piece, yet the dial seemed worse to me, mainly because of the contrast of the imperfections

Missed out on this one at auction, but thought the unconventional dial was interesting & attractive.

Wow, very unusual.
