What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

It’s genuine. I’m not 100% that the hands are correct but they could be.
It’s a gold plated, entry level model so should only be a few hundred.

Hi David, thank you for your reply!
To give context, I have won an auction for 550€, which maybe a bit on the expensive side

It is a bit but at least it’s genuine. Better to ask before bidding.

Welcome Luca,

As David said, it’s got some conditions issues but it’s real. We all learn how to spot those issues with time and it becomes part of the fun of the hunt.

A good thread if you want to learn more is this one:

I would have some questions about an auction that took the price so high.

I have noticed that the 600 series goes for high prices on ebay lately .

Funny, because it's just about the most entry level vintage Omega you can find (with the possible exception of some Geneve models), especially in a gold-plated case.

But maybe the vintage watch market is starting to rebound a little overall.

I agree that it is an entry level Omega , but it has a good classic look , and i think it looks better then some non entry level Omega's .
I think that the 600 series is a bit sought after by small \ starter watch collectors , which explains the prices .
10 -12 years back I bought them in excellent condition for 100-200 usd

Well that's just unfair!

To be honest, I don't care if I overpaid a bit for it as it's a self birthday gift and my first Omega.

I am just glad that is genuine. I've had a couple of friends confirming that it was before paying. The only thing "suspicious", if you can call it that, is that it was listed as 1950-1959 while chatgpt claims the serial number puts it likely in the mid 60s

Yes, it's a 60s watch. I think it's more likely just ignorance by the seller than anything devious.

I agree with both comments. It certainly is an entry level model; basic cases, manual only movements etc. but, it has a classic look with a variety of dials (some very interesting), and the name 600 sounds good compared to other ‘Seamasters’. It is often, along with the DeVille, one of the go to’s for new collectors. I like them at the right price

Haha, that's true! I wonder if people think it is a depth rating instead of a reference to the caliber-series. 😀

I genuinely think some people believe the 600 is a reference to some kind of depth rating or engineering feat that elevates it above a ‘normal’ 34mm seamaster.
