hello community, need some feedback on this seamaster. I know it's a redial but not i am sure if there ever was a seamaster 30 with that dial. Anyways here are the pictures, any feedback much appreciated. oh and the price is around 850euros/1000usd, and comes from india. cheers in advance.

Hi Grokas. I’m not a big deal around these parts so I’ll let the big boys chime in but my advice would be to stay away from this watch, especially at that price.
They have a look but are often poorly put together.
For that price you can easily find a cool Seamaster in original condition

Ho @grokas,

The watch is a bucket of shit.

Well done for asking before getting saddled with this horror 👍.

...and comes from india...

I hope not to offend anyone, but this would be enough to make me look elsewhere.

A Pakistani black dialed Omega though...

thanks for all the input, the thing is i really love this dial ever since i had to let go my beloved 39mm railmaster (too big for my wrist), so is there a correct reference for this dial or are all out there mix and match?

Ignoring the dial which is most likely a Mumbai fabrication, the gold finish on the movement is odd for a 1950s Omega too.

It's actually a brass finish (well, not actually a "finish").
The beautiful Omega Cupro/Nickel (rose goldish) finish has been removed by harsh cleaning in who knows what solutions.

to elaborate a bit on the question apart from the rancheros, railmasters and pafs is there another reference with this dial?

This dial on this watch is a fantasy dial. Like many others..... Designed to catch you.

Fairly uncommon though.

Once you start looking, you'll see many examples of this dial design.

Found this one on eebs for $100.

Thanx for that, I am looking and I have found some but they don't tick all the boxes. Yours is very nice but I want a Stainless steel case not a chromed one.

There are some real vintage gems out there that are of the same vein- you just need to hunt

Or just go for the gold

Oh believe me I have been hunting, I even came close to the same wyler you posted, just knew that it wouldn't scratch the itch.
Also as much as I like the 300 my gold would be the 36mm railmaster.

My first Omega was a fantasy-dialed Seamaster 30 very much like that one. I went in knowing it was a put-together fantasy watch, but I did enjoy it for several years until I bought my first modern Seamaster.

it was definitely worth the $100 I paid for it in 1999. It’s not worth $1000.

Nothing wrong with enjoying a watch like this- it’s like costume jewelry. But agreed- a collectors premium on a non-collectors watch is offensive
