·Good evening everybody,
I’ve been slightly too liberal with acquisition of Omegas, so will need to part with a piece or two. 😀
This one is a 50s 2846 – SS case, gold furniture, very white dial – what’s not to like?
The Watch
Omega Seamaster
Reference: 2846
Movement: cal. 501 automatic
Serial: 15344928
Year: 1956
Case: 34
Dial: white, gold furniture, applied Omega logo
Strap: to be discussed
Condition
Dial & Hands: Original dial in great shape, I’d say it’s the party piece of the watch. All the writing is sharp and the dial has retained a very clean tone of white. There are very, very minimal discolorations, which I can only spot in close-up pictures, not with the naked eye though. Can’t find any deterioration on the indices, the non-luminous hands show the typical gold-discoloration.
Case: Original 34mm stainless steel case in used condition with plenty of life left in it. Edges/chamfers are intact and clearly visible, small scratches all around. The case back is a little rough underneath one of the lugs and where it’s opened. Seamaster and Waterproof writing fully intact though and it closes tightly.
Crown: Original Omega crown, correct clover style for the ref, likely a service replacement, judging by the logo. If you insist on a flat foot logo, I do have a Naiad variant I could replace this with, cost to be discussed.
Crystal: Generic crystal with a few small scratches, no cracks though. The tension ring covers parts of the Swiss Made.
Movement: Original cal. 501 automatic in clean condition. Sets, winds and runs well, service history is unknown though so as usual one is recommended. There are traces of rotor wear, the issue was addressed though.
Strap: Light brown leather strap (new) or dark blue alligator strap (slightly used) as seen in the pictures, other options available and can be discussed, see pictures.
