Omega Seamaster 2759 - original hands or not?

I've had this Omega Seamaster 2759 cal. 420 "beefy lugs" for a few years now. Clean dial and nice case, serviced a while back at a local Omega service center.

But the hands...is it possible that they are original? I am aware that 99/100 these models have luminous dauphine hands but this one has luminous lance/alpha. The lume was added during the latest service. These ones look really nice, but I just want to be sure about the originality. Thanks!

I can’t help you about originality but it’s a pretty watch

I agree, what a nice watch.

And the H/M hands certainly look appropriate and appealing, the right color and shape. I am accustomed to seeing a more tapered sweep hand with a wedge-shaped tail and squared-off end. Overall, it's such an attractive watch, I don't think I'd worry too much.

This watch is a Ref. 2761, although the caseback probably has both 2759 and 2761 engraved inside. The only difference is the center seconds movement, cal. 420.

Unfortunately, the hands are not original or Omega. The seconds hand is way too long. It may be possible to get replacement hands if your watchmaker has an Omega parts account. If you can figure out the part numbers for the hands, they also come up on eBay occasionally.

Here is what looks to be an all original example for this reference with the luminous hands:

I think the seconds hand should track roughly to the color dividing line of the dial where the seconds / minute hash marks are. Probably had luminous dauphine hands originally like the above photo, but I wouldn't worry. Nice looking watch. Luminous Alpha hands are always a great look.

Here are some photos of a watch I owned (now in the hands of a patina-loving OF member). My interpretation of the case-back was that 2759 was indeed the center seconds reference, and 2761 was sub-seconds, but I could be wrong. It had the handset as shown, the dauphine H/M hands with a long M hand, and the shorter tapered sweep hand.

When I search on that case, no dial or hands come up associated with it, so I suspect the hands are long discontinued from Omega.

I also tried searching on hands using the movement, and again no luck...

One of those odd references that had minute hands which protruded the minute ticks.

Nice one though!

I used to have a 2759/2761. I believe that the photos below are correct for the hands. This particular watch had a very nice waffle dial too.

Thanks! I think the only way to get the original hands is to buy an organ donor Seamaster. My watch says 2759-2 SC on the back, serial number 1423...so it's manufactured around 1954.
