Omega Seamaster 2254-50

Greetings. I am new to this forum, and to Omega, I have owned a good deal of other luxury brands.

My question is this, I am looking at buying a Seamaster 2254-50, I love the simplicity and the correlation with the Rolex SubMil and really want this watch.

I found one, 2006, for $2700 roughly. No box or papers. Looks like reputable jewelry store.

What would you think these watches should sell for? also what was MSRP when they were in production?
Thanks in advance.

$2700 seems a bit strong considering no box and papers. I would estimate $2000 - $2500 for a mint example with box and papers. They are in demand and have been climbing steadily over the years. You should be able to get a nice one well within your budget.

Be careful as these are routinely over-polished and restored - I'd personally be willing to pay around $2500 for one in excellent condition and with a detailed service history.

I've seen listings on this forum (check the seller reputation / feedback section... some reputable sellers here) or through watchrecon... full set and in excellent condition for around $2200. Similar listings but no box or papers (still excellent condition) in the $1700-$1900 range.

MSRP when they were in production... I don't have the price sheets for all models from back then but in 2005 I got my 2531.80 and full retail was $2000 (technically I think $1995... would likely have been the same or similar price being another full size SMP). Based on listings I've seen for the 2254.50 over the years where people still have the hang tags and price tags from their original purchase, the highest price I've ever seen on one of those tags is $2300 or $2350... something in that range. Not sure if that was the cap and I suppose it might have varied place to place, being MSRP is the suggested retail price.

Edit: What @alam said ^^^^^^^^

MSRP at the time this article was written (2003) was $1,750 USD and the hang tag of mine, purchased new in 2008 shows $2,300

So that $2700 is way too high. Sans packaging.
Yes, suggest you try to bargain on pricing or else look elsewhere

I just sold one last week for $2175 with full papers and box. If that helps you at all...

i've seen couple of those on watchexchange reddit from time to time, and they mostly priced around 1.8k-2.3k, I say 2.7k is way too much.

The one I'm looking at received a light polish when it went in for a full service a few months ago. Bezel and case still look pretty sharp but its definitely noticeable. Is there a preference for completely unpolished in this kind of recent vintage model?

For some people any polish is bad on any piece; for me a well done, light polish does not makes the watch less desirable
