The 2254 is definitely a permanent member of my collection! I immediately swapped in the non-AC dial and absolutely love it. Here it is on a RubberB:

This is a wonderful, functional watch. I had the titanium version which I found to be fantastic—worth considering.

As it's been mentioned a couple of times, here's a shot of the 2254.50's slightly blingier cousin 😎

It always makes me smile seeing all of the close up pics where I can easily read the date. Then, back to the wrist, and I realize that I either need a longer left arm or to find my reading glasses... 😀

Hi JC - what rubber bracelet is that on the 2254?
That's the "sport strap" with a deployant clasp with wet-suit attachment. Super-nice to wear, it has built-in adjustment in the clasp. They are stsill available from Omega; I had accidentally damaged mine and was able to get a replacement. Strap and clasp are sold separately.

From Swatch Group: "The part number for the black rubber strap is O97996082, this is in stock and retails for $250.00 plus $10.00 ground shipping and applicable sales tax."

I'm sorry, I don't have the part number for the clasp, but it should be findable.

looks like the clasp part # is: 94531803

how did you contact omega direct for the parts? Currently have my 2254 undergoing a service with Omega & would love to order these parts in the meantime

thanks for the response!

I didn’t like the cut/whatever-gonal bezel shape nor the sword hands when i bought it, but i could source one from Japan at a good price like two years ago so i pulled the trigger. After seeing it in the flesh, i didn’t take me too long to start liking it and i now use to wear it on nato or ss bracelet.
Pretty slim compared to other Omegas, and what a bright lume.

how much did you pay for your dial? They seem to be hovering around $900 these days. I don’t think I want to spend 1/3 of the watch cost on a new dial. But it is tempting.

Just buy a Non-AC. Bearing in mind you are getting a $900 dial and $1,200+ solid gold insert bezel, it is cheaper to buy the watch than mess about with mods.

Totally agree. I got my dial from swisslimitededitions in 2019 when I bought it, it was roughly $750usd. I believe it’s now around $950usd… so it’s ultimately more worthwhile tk just buy a non-AC watch and swap the bezel. Because of the condition my 2254 came in, I ended up needing to replace the dial, hands and crystal, which resulted in it costing more than it would have to just get a non-AC and a brand new 2254 bezel…

I am sooo glad I read @dsio story about 2254.50s. I had not known about these.

I went looking and with @krogerfoot help, this full box and papers watch just arrived. I am in 🥰. krogerfoot even took it for service for me to his watchmaker.

This is a beautiful watch, made more so by the fact that it looks unworn. It had the red dot on the caseback indicating that it had never been serviced.

Pictures:

Thanks gentlemen for your help and support.
( Unfortunately my wife couldn't tell the difference between this and my Speedmaster.)

Fantastic watch if there are any fence sitters. Love the hack and quick setting date. Looking forward to testing the chronometer.

Nice congrats mate!

Guessing it’s a Japanese pickup if @krogerfoot was helping, it’s such a fertile hunting ground there with the currency where it is at the moment. Japanese sourced watches always tend to be in better condition on average too I find.

I think the message here is that there is no blue 2254 so the implication is that you had a lucky escape!

There is the electric blue dial 2255.80 (with a polished steel bezel), perhaps you mean that? Or of course the original 2531.80 Bond watch and several other blue dial SMP variants in gold, titanium etc, but there is no blue 2254.

For anyone who finds the 2254 a little too tooly, the 2230.50 non-AC offers a similar look but smartened up a little. Many will prefer the faux-mil aesthetic but personally I prefer the non-AC since it combines some of the 2201.50 PO features and a very fancy bezel.

I agree!
