·Hi everyone,
I’ve been doing my due diligence before pulling the trigger on an Omega Seamaster 165.034, and I would really appreciate your thoughts on a few points regarding its authenticity.
I’ve spent quite some time studying the excellent resource omegaseamaster300.com, which has helped me immensely in my research. Most aspects of the watch seem correct to me - but I’m still left with two doubts I’d love to run by you all before committing.
The dial looks mostly legit to me, but I have some questions - especially regarding the “Omega” and “Seamaster 300” text:
Does the printing of these elements look original to you, or could it be refinished?
I’m also looking at the “6” and “9” numerals, which are indeed open (not closed loops) as they should be - but the openings seem quite tight compared to other examples I’ve seen. Perhaps I’m overanalyzing, but I wanted to check with you to be sure.
This one features a flat-top “3”, and the minute markers lack lume, which I understand is consistent with certain bezel variants - though typically seen on models from 1969–1971.
Since this example is dated 1967, I’m wondering if that bezel could still be considered correct, or if it’s a mismatch that should raise concerns.
The listing does not currently show the crown, but I’ve asked the seller for a clear photo. I know the correct crown is a key detail on this reference, so I’ll update this thread as soon as I receive it.
Aside from these questions, I haven't noticed any other red flags - but I’d really appreciate your insights.
If anything else jumps out at you, I’m all ears.
Thanks so much in advance for your time and help!
Happy to provide more photos if needed.
Best regards,
Alex
