Hello everyone,

I just got my hands on this Seamaster Pre-DeVille with "Art Deco" numerals from my grandfather. It had been sitting forgotten for at least 40 years, and it’s still ticking.

I have some questions about it now that I want to restore it. I haven’t found much information about this reference and dial, so if you could help me…

It’s missing the original buckle. Does anyone know the exact model of buckle for this reference, 14770?

The crystal is missing the small Omega imprint in the middle. Was it replaced?

The seconds hand seems shorter than others I’ve found online. Could it have been replaced?

The dial seems original and not "redialed." It’s missing the "Swiss Made" marking, it’s there but worn out.

I wasn’t able to remove the entire mechanism to check which caliber it is. I could only see the back and found the reference imprinted as "14770 1 SC." Does anyone know what caliber it might be?

Lastly, for the strap, what would you recommend based on the dial and case color?

Thank you!

There is no exact model for buckle you can find a period correct one when you determine date with movement SN.
Crystal probably replaced. Its a mess if you are restoring just replace it.
Seconds hand probably broken tip. Hour and minutes hand are missing all lume.
Dial appears original but quite extensively damaged, in very poor shape.

Take it to independent watchmaker with Omega parts account to remove movement and see what is needed to restore. All info regarding ref and date will be revealed inside. If it wasnt an heirloom probably not worth it, but since it was your grandfathers watch you can see what cost will be and decide.

Dont worry about strap, least of your issues, any nice brown leather will do.

This watch is in rough shape with very little monetary value but its an heirloom so see what watchmaker thinks. They can do little to nothing to imrpove the dial. Good luck with the project.
