Good afternoon. This forum is superb and I wish I had found it before now. I just would really appreciate some comments on a Seamaster I recently purchased though have not yet received. I own a vintage Longines and a modern one both of which I have not had to question their intergrity but when I read some of the horro stories online I start to question myself and my recent purchase of an Omega.
I like to know the history of things and would love to know a little about this watch, the vintage Longines I shall enquire about elsewhere. I hope the photos can be viewed and I thank you in anticipation of any responses and indeed to such an informative site. Regards Andrew

Can you provide the numbers on the movement? It's not a 1020 because it's not a day/date. I'm guessing the wrong case back is on the watch because those reference numbers are for a day/date, based on a quick Google search. The only way to know for sure what it is, is to see the movement numbers.

Thats most helpful for a starter, thank you. I am not doubting the integrity of the seller who may have bought it himself in good faith. As a bit of a perfectionist I now would like to find an original back for this watch. Can you advise this newbie where I should look for the movement numbers? I paid £440 for the watch and there was plenty of interest so I am reasonably confident despite your news that the watchwas a realistic price. Thanks

The numbers are under the rotor, in your movement photo.

Thanks for your response. I have spoken to a really good watch man and feel more confident of my purchase. That said he explained that even Omega would struggle to determine its originality etc. I have attached an image where the numbers are but I cannot see them. I am not going to take the back off now,,,but may do when I see a proper jeweller to do that and get the numbers. The watch strap is ST.1340.327 There is a 42 in a circle after this number and an Omega in a triangle before it. I don't know what the 42 is either lol. Many thanks.

maybe a 1012 movement in a 1020 case. Strap details don't really help though I have a 1012 with a similar one.. 440 UKP (500USD) is a little bit steep if it turns out to be a Franken, but then again the dial is a slightly unusual colour.

    Have a poke around here - https://www.omegawatches.com/vintage-watches

Select Seamaster, then 1010/1012 and see what turns up. Should be mid 70s, go up and down a few years and check Omega’s info. It won’t necessarily match exactly but it’ll give you an idea.
