Omega rubber strap question

Hi Everyone.

I'm pretty new to the watch hobby, and recently purchased a Seamaster 300m white dial With the bracelet.
Yesterday I was able to source the back rubber strap from my local Omega dealer. I really like this strap on the watch and it feels very comfortable.

My questions are, does anyone have any experience with how long these tend to last? and if it's likely to degrade within a few years, is it worth getting an extra as a back up incase my current model of seamster is replaced and the current rubber strap is discontinued?

or even if the seamster is updated do the rubber straps tend to be interchangeable between models?

Thanks for your advice in advance!

I have used rubber straps from Etsy and personally cannot tell the difference from OEM. Give them a look you may be surprised.

Great, thanks for the tip. How long do yours tend to last?

I have the 2018 300M on blue rubber. I recently had a problem with the floating keeper starting to tear due primarily, I think, to how I wear the watch: my wrist is small and so I wear it on the first hole. I put the floating keeper on the last hole, which ends up on the side of my wrist. Due to this the strap tip is not sitting flat and it applies constant lift force against the keeper. [I'd include a picture but I've already swapped the strap out for a NATO.]

Long and short, I reached out to Swatch/OMEGA service (Canada) and they quoted 24 months being the life of the rubber strap. That said, it was only the floating keeper I was having a problem with; the rest of the strap was fine structurally. [I likely should get the small version of the rubber strap.]

Excellent Info, thanks! I may end up going the nato route when this rubber strap gives up the ghost anyway. Did Omega replace the strap for you under warranty?

They did indeed! I was at the 25 month mark so I guess I was close enough. I won’t be putting that strap on for now, and in fact may keep it unworn for when I pass the watch on to a family member when I shed this mortal coil.

Here’s a picture with the new OMEGA NATO. Not even on the first hole. 😉

Wow it looks great, I can’t decide which colours would look best for the white faced version I have!

I haven’t worn one out before selling the watch.

I have your exact watch.

The only thing I am concerned about, and it is not a serious concern, is the small tab on the floating keeper that keeps the keeper from floating. It "might" wear out after a while. I wear this watch just about every day (for exercise and dog walks), and I have been wearing the rubber strap for a little over a year and so far so good.

Not really worried about the rest of the strap.

I’m glad to see someone a year in still getting good use of the strap, I was already worrying after 48 hours! I don’t really use mine for excercise
