Has anyone any real world experience with the Omega PO 2500 (42mm) rubber strap (I think part no. 98000144) on the equivalent 8500 model? and if so where to source one (with a tang buckle of course).

    many thanks all.

What are you looking for exactly? Comfort? They are great. I would go to the boutique :)

The 98000144 is very comfortable and the large tang buckle extremely secure. There have been reports that the rubber on some examples seems to age prematurely (within a few years of regular use) which is disappointing as any high-quality rubber strap should survive almost anything outside of an acid bath.
Any 2500 PO strap will fit the 8500, just with slight differences in strap top and bottom fitments due to case thickness.
Best place to source the strap is from and AD, OB or the classifieds. A great many third-party resellers had their parts accounts cancelled so they've been price-gouging remaining stock of Omega items ever since.
For traditional tang-style rubber straps Isofrane is the standard - soft, comfy, breathable, indestructible. The only real negative is more of an aesthetic one, as it doesn't have the curved ends like the Omega to fit the case flush.
