Looking at a Maison Fondee. Is it possible to swap the bracelet for a leather strap? I know this is a funky watch and borderline vintage. Daughter is looking for a sub $1000 cool watch for fiancee

It should not be a problem to install a strap. You will just want to get the proper spring-bars.

I've never seen or heard of this model before but I think it's quite pretty!

Isn’t this the same reference @ErichKeane has been working on AKA ‘The Dumbest Speedmaster’ (his words not mine)?

It looks like a Seamaster 120m variant from the 1990s so fitting a strap should be a piece of cake. The bezel and possibly crown are probably solid gold. Will be around 35mm only though so not massive. As above, some of this case number were weirdly branded as a Speedmaster but not I suspect here where MF was used instead.

It'll look like this on a a strap:

Hah, yup, the exact same as in OPs image (gold dial too!)!

I paid $1000 for MINE in non-functional shape, so if you can get a good one for $1000, that feels like a steal to me. When I did my research, I couldn't find one sub-$1600.

As far as the question: yes, you can put a strap on it with no problem. That said, the bracelet is SUPER nice/comfy, so I don't know why you would 😀

IMO, a cool watch that doesn't get seen often. Great, easy to work on ETA movement that fits/wears fantastically. It wears SUPER light, and feels really thin.

Let me know if you have any questions, as there is one on my desk, I have pretty personal experience 😀
