    Dear all,
may I ask for your advice.
I am about to buy my second Ranchero.
To me, everything with this one seems OK, nice overall status. Movement number mid 168..
Could you please have a look at the dial whether something strikes your eyes?

I have seen many Rancheros where dial and hands show different aging/patina. Is this normal?
My first one has brownish patina on the original dial (Radium) and hands have very professionally been relumed in the same color - which find very nice.

Second, how is your opinion on the brownish patina? Does it make a difference for you whether the Radium became creamy yellow, orange or brown?

    Thanks in advance.

The job you've done cutting out the whole green background is striking.

It's hard to judge the dial from the picture given but I think it's original. Or at least it isn't an obvious fake.

Give us a better picture and get a better answer.

But this was also my first and lasting impression. Up to now, I have not seen any fakes with non serif numbers, with long second marks at 28 and 32. Usually on the original dials, the sub-bar of the "2" in the "12" has a little bum on the upper line. This is hard to judge from the figures. What you think of the patina of the dial and the hands?

I think it is legit and the different lume shades do not bother me.
    Nice looking dial imo!

Being here for almost a year, it seems that you're only here for the free advice.

Your last thread on rancheros, you took all the advice and disappeared till the next time you needed help, you never even shared the watch when it arrived.

We're excited when someone nabs a good one. Join us in the give and take...

    here you go.
This is the last one I bought half a year ago. I like the quality of the dial, geiger shows about 10xaverage surrounding radiation so it seems original. The hands have been relumed. With blacklight only the dial shows luminescence. Furthermore, the grain size of the hands is much smaller than that of the dial. But it seems that someone professional did the relume since the color matches perfectly - and this good piece of craft helps me over the non-oringial lume ;-)
Casing has been polished quite a bit. I was trying to find one to replace it but prices are currently boiling.

Sure, thanks for taking it like a sport, and nice Ranchero! The tides are turning on attitudes on relumes. I think in a few years people won't have to hang their head on a relume. It looks great.

I hope I stumble on a ranchero some day. I can't see ever affording them at current market value. At least I have a nice 36mm Seamaster with a similar 30mm movement.

A very nice one indeed and also hard to find in such a condition. Ref. 2750? I have a preferred seller on EBAY, where I got a simliar one a year ago.

What is the exact problem with them? They are selling fakes, stolen stuff or not sending anything? I hoped to be on the safe side with Paypal

    Not sending anything.
They’ve been ripping off PayPal and causing headaches for collectors for years.

It’s hard enough getting a good original Ranchero without some scammers trying to sell ones that don’t exist!
