evening all

Just wanted to show off this little beauty, it's something quite special simply because it's omegas first ever prototype of a megaquartz 32khz (omegas first in house Quartz movement)

The watch dates to 1970, it is one of a series of 14 prototypes made to test the case design and movement design of the megaquartz 32khz movement

The eagle eyed will spot that the case is remarkably similar to the f300, although larger and with the integrated pushed for adjusting seconds and date! The movement is a complete prototype unit and the dial is branded electeoquartz not megaquartz

The movement is hand engraved and the case back stamped 1310 serie 0, which was the first test run prior to any public testing or display of the MQ range

It's keeping second accurate time and frankly I am thrilled, will update more later but wanted to show her off, need to change the battery for the right one but thankfully have cleaned off the black seal gunk (bless you baking soda wipes) she's a very very special watch

Thanks Tom

Lovely watch, do you have a secret connection that finds these watches for you or do you find them in regular places like ebay and watchrecon ?

Thanks all

Yep I'm very pleased with it, I own a few omega prototypes but this sits along side my one of two made MQ2.4mhz prototypes as a very very special watch

Can I call dibs on it, just incase you loose your mind and want to find it a new home one day. And secondly, did they produce this watch as a megahertz later on? It is such a beautiful watch.

The production model was called megaquartz, omega originally had intended to extend them as part of the electroquartz line but eventually (for whatever marketing reasons) chose to name them megaquartz

All told a very special thing, I've continued with the megaquartz theme today, I thought to myself, what the most understated watch I own, so I chose this 18k beauty

Thanks John

I'm really pleased with it, I have a few prototype megaquartz's, including a brass case TV dial version of the 32khz but this SS version of series 0 really is one of the jewels of my finds to date
