Presented as a 105.03 with a prototype Singer dial.

I think this a very interesting discussion.

Only showed up on FB, no movement shots, no caseback shots.

There are a lot of these singer dials out there (a huge number of variants), the watch was never made or approved of by Omega, it’s just a dial that has been fitted to an old 105.003 that probably had lost its own.

I saw this too. It doesn’t make much sense IMO so I too think it’s just a dial and case marriage. Note the lack of running second.

They also have an AS cased 145.022-74. Which is hard to explain for a multitude of reasons.

For the record I think its legit, or at least all legit parts.

Without seeing the Insta or FB post today, but having seen one of BrusselsVintageWatches post of this watch back in 2022, I thought about this prototype dial this morning and about starting a thread to discuss it. Hell of a coincidence there, but glad you posted about it @Foo2rama!! I’ve been wondering about the story of the dial so glad to see some discussion about this dial & straight lug case combo.
if you google Omega Monocontatore you will get a little more information.
New rabbit hole to dive down, thanks!

The Rolex Passion Report article quoted in the thread linked above included photos of a couple variants for the Monocontatore dial. A black dial (similar to the one shown in the thread linked above) with white sub-dial and an all white dial.

There was also a brighter exposed photo of the white dial variant.
There’s also this video that focuses on the variant similar to the OP.

Proto types are proto types because they are not good enough to go into series production.

Nix Prototype. Ugly dial without feet from one of the many Singer Dial Books , who were sold later from Singer employees ....

Well without it in hand and seeing the movement, it can’t be confirmed.

it’s an interesting price worthy of discussion and should not immediately be considered a fake or Fantesy as some have claimed.

Hey Foo. Thanks for bringing this to the forum, I was thinking about it after seeing that post. Worth the crazy money they will surely ask, only to the buyer.
It’s likely been put together, right, so I’d take it all the way and throw on a pulsations bezel it would look great with that arrangement.
An interesting dial design but the number font doesn’t say Speedy to me.

I wonder if the first 3 are 168.017 dials, size looks like it could be

Reviving this thread since the owner of the watch, Brussels Vintage Watch, has listed it for sale. For the whopping price of €125000….

Now I get that it’s an uncommon prototype dial, but in essence this is a “built” 105.003-65 in good-ish condition. Would the prototype detail really command such a premium?

Website wouldn’t let me save the photos so here’s the link for those who want to check it out.

The dial is abused from 6 to 9 too isn’t it, such a shame …

That Dial is from a prototype dial book of a dial manufacturer . Rejected by the factory. Quite a few of these surfaced 10 plus years ago on the market. Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Breitling and maybe other brands as well . Without Dial feet. No problem to add them later .. The movement bridges with engravings look more worn than the rest. Another put together example ....

Indeed there were a lot of these, not just from these dial books but also some weird ones somehow ended up being dumped on ebay through watchco for a few hundred bucks each, I picked a pair of Alaska style radial dials designed to fit a Speedmaster MK4 or something off them as they were the cheapest at only $70 AUD each. Maybe one day I’ll make a $150,000 prototype out of them.
