Omega pocket watch - What’s with the extra minute markers?

    Hello everyone, and happy Friday. I am wondering what the design theory is behind having the extra row of red minute markers on this watch. Just the style at the time? The colour and greatly simplified font of the red markers makes me wonder if there was a purpose to it. Apologies for the dirty crystal, the dial is actually nice and clean.

    And just for the record, here is the rest.

    As I understand it, up until apx 1910 Omega didn't always sign their movements. This one says Swiss under the balance wheel, but I will need to get someone with more skills and tools to look under the dial for a serial # to confirm.
