They made at least 5 different versions I’ve seen with different case-backs for personal purchase over the years for members of the MOD, and I’m sure there are even more then that. There are SMP’s and first gen POC. Normally they don’t go that much higher then normal watches as they are not issued pieces, rather custom batch orders ordered by some groups in the British Military.

If this is related to the infamous stolen one from a few years ago it might get a small bump. 10k pounds seems more then a bit optimistic to me. Even the start at 8k seems high. I’d put it at 4K pounds at most. Note it has the wrong box.

    On the other hand https://bid.gardinerhoulgate.co.uk/m/lot-details/index/catalog/66/lot/47376?url=/m/view-auctions/catalog/id/66

    Seems way low.

So presumably, Omega produced this 2500 version in 2018 to match the stolen one? Pretty cool gesture on Omega's part.

These squadron specials have an air of tackiness about them. This one is moderately more interesting than most but in reality these are about as worthy as the million or so Breitling squadron watches. Generally any watch owned by someone in the military is more interesting that one owned by a photocopier salesman but these are not issued pieces and often underhand means are used to inflate the prices. Ask me about how the Rolex Seaking edition was pumped and dumped... And I won't be able to publicly tell you but suffice to say, underhand means were used...

While agree with you, as the branding was generally reserved for the case back and the SMP’s had enamel casebacks in some versions I wouldn’t call them tacky. Worth more? No.

Wait, so let me get this straight, if the story is believed, this guy had his original PO SAS stolen in a burglary so out of the kindness of Omega's corporate heart, they recreated a long-out-of-production 2200.52 for him (with no papers) and he turns around and flips it?

I don't know, something about this is fishy

I did find it odd no caseback shot.. I also don’t remember an inscription on them.

There was me thinking that 'Who Dares Wins' was the SAS's motto. Or that a photograph of this piece's casebook would be too much to ask. Never mind - take my money!

This is mad, they are offering a watch that the only difference to the standard was the caseback, It had the SAS logo on it, but they don't show it?

But they would have value to those individuals who have served, or continue to serve in said squadron / unit / regiment etc., as well as to those who just like them and don't find them tacky. Each to his own.

I don’t think anyone doubts that. For others though?

As Padders will attest (if he's the Padders I think he is) there are a million people out there who'll happy claim to have served with UKSF, but who couldn't find their own backsides with both hands. We call them "Walts".

In 2018 this was still the model being used for “military personnel special orders” (or whatever the heck Swatch call this programme).

The discount off retail was over 50% from memory...

Not the 2500 PO. It’s not available for military group buy with customization. If it was I can assure you someone would have done it recently. AFAIK it was not available after 2010 or so, around the same time that model went out of production.

The last was the x33 on discount to military which was a slightly different program.

Unless you've got info I’ve never seen. In which case the OF Army needs a batch of 2500 42mm PO’s.

In that case, not sure what I was shown (but not shown if you catch my drift) being picked up from an OB last year... although I will admit to having little clue as to PO versions. ;)

    Glass caseback inserts with insignia?

Something like this in a PO that I was told was not the current production model...
