Happy weekend everyone!

Given the choice of a Planet Ocean 2201.50 with the 2500d movement on bracelet or the new Seamaster Blue, which would you get?. I am a little torn as the newer Seamasters have all the updated tech(ceramic bezel and dial, 8800 movement and so on) while the 2201.50 has the more classic look and is a much rarer piece with the 2500d movement. What do you guys think?.

Both are great watches, but I give the edge to the PO -- it has an understated and substantial presence on the wrist; it looks good on a wide variety of straps and NATOs; the bracelet has a subtle taper; and to me, the PO strikes me more as a tool and less as a piece of jewelry. I also wouldn't pay a premium to get a 2500d vs. a 2500c. I didn't, and my PO with a 2500c runs like a champ (still averaging +2.5 sec/day).

My stance on this is pretty well known.

Just sell me that PO.

Do you prefer a black or blue dial on you watches? Once you answer this you have your answer.
The PO with the d variant is rarer I suppose in terms of numbers available but the newer materials and movements of the seamaster tip it for me. If you prefer the black dial then buy it in black.
You will get 10% off a new one at least which makes it a great buy when you view the whole package of 5 years worry free ownership.

Absolutely 100% the new Seamaster Diver 300M. Much newer tech, ceramic bezel that will never scratch, METAS certification. All around a better watch.

Just send that ancient PO my way and I鈥檒l dispose of it appropriately

I like black dials more but that blue is pretty though!. I鈥檓 leaning towards the 2500d.

The original 2500 PO is a classic. I wish Omega would return to those proportions on the PO.

I am not very taken with the new 300M line. The HEV is huge, and the numerals just seem very stark to me. As a dive watch, I'm sure it's absolutely fantastic, but a watch's aesthetics matter much more to me than its utility. I have an older blue wave dial 300M with aluminum bezel and used to have the previous version of the black dial with ceramic bezel. Both are fantastic, but my 2500 PO is hands down my #1 "old" diver.

At the risk of piling on here, I say Planet Ocean 2500 all the way, any day, every day.

If it were up to me, I'd go for the 2201.50 with the 2500d.

If you like the look of the PO but value the new tech, have you considered the newer PO? It combines the clear beauty of the PO with all the cool new tech. If the 43.5 mm should be to massive for you (it actually wears like 42mm), you can get a 39.5 mm one.
I went for the newer PO as an everyday watch, which I use and abuse, and could not be happier.
