Hello everybody!

I'm new to omega vintage watch collecting. I found this very nice looking constellation which I am considering, just doing my due diligence to make sure that everything is period correct and in good enough condition.Would really appreciate all your input on the details that I would have missed! The seller's asking price is about 1.7k USD.

This is a repost from my previous post as I don't know how to remove that, apologies in advance if I unknowingly flouted the rules of the forum.

Also sorry about the quality of the photos, whilst better than my previous post, are definitely not DSLR standard, but this is all I could get.

Thank you again in advance and I look forward to your valuable insight!馃榾

Looks fine to me, although i am not an expert. Case has seen some polish but is still in good condition. Dial looks original factory finish. Would be Nice to see inside the caseback, the caliber and the first 2 digits of the movement number. Does it keep good time?

Really need better photos to make a proper assessment. I think that I see some spotting on the dial, but it鈥檚 hard to tell. Case has been polished. I would like to see a photo of the inside of the case back and a better photo of the movement showing the serial number (at least the first two digits).

Average condition piece.
Dial has some spots, ask for some better photos to see it clearly.

Would I pay 1700 usd for it?
No. Not even close to that.

Have a look on the sale section to get an idea on what would be a fair price, if you like it and wanna buy it.

Take into consideration 100-200usd for service, depending on where you are based.

$100-$200 USD for service is on the low side.

Well overpriced; can get a nice steel connie for that much.
Also that second hand looks suspect to me, better photos needed.

It is what I pay.
I am well aware in some other places, we need OP鈥檚 location to provide better estimates.

Arty photos on a stand with perfect photos of the caseback and movement, yet none of the dial photos are straight on and all are blurred = cause for suspicion. It has the original yellow gasket indicating that it has never been serviced, so problems might lie in wait. Someone is trying to sucker a top price for a mediocre watch. I would walk away.

This. It is a $1,000-1,200 watch in need of a $200+* service waiting for a sucker. I have a PP Connie with spotting and I personally don't mind it at all but the market dictates a marked dial is worth less than a perfect dial, so asking top watch money for this kind of thing is silly. Buying it is even sillier.

*Western world pricing, yes you can get it done cheaper in Delhi, Saigon, Manilla etc.

OP, for comparison here is my 1962 Constellation reference 14900 in gold cap. This watch is in nearly mint condition and I didn鈥檛 pay much more than the asking price for the watch that you鈥檙e considering. You can do better and I suggest that you bide your time and look for something that you like on the OF private sales forum.

Thank you all for your input!

Looks like it is a bit pricey for the condition of the piece, I will have to keep the search going then! There鈥檚 fun in that too.

When I do I will have to ask for your opinions on it again, thank you all in advance!

Ah I鈥檓 from Singapore, omega quoted me around 500 Singapore dollars for servicing so I would say it probably costs a bit more, haven鈥檛 checked out local reputable watchmakers before so can鈥檛 be sure about cost there..

Thanks. It was an estate sale and a rare find. The original owner almost never wore it. It sat in its box for the better part of 60 years.
