Does my file work? Do you hear it? I tried to upload it while on the train.

Works. In the US, we accent the second syllable instead of the first, but that's basically how we pronounce the vowels.

I did Ancient Greek at school, many decades ago, although Latin was by far my better subject. 😀

Omega is written Ωμέγα, thus the letter Omega contrasts with the other Greek letter for O, Omicron or Όμικρον. The former was for long pronunciations of the vowel, while the latter for the short. The other vowel to consider is the E in Omega which is an Epsilon, έψιλον, a short form of the vowel contrasting with Ήτα Eta which is long. Therefore I pronounce it "Oh meg a."

It may of course all be Greek to me.

Exactly right. Making the epsilon a long-e sound is sort of the reverse of the way the Brits mangle "vitamin." 😉
