Anyway, in my experience, the best way to find good local watchmakers is to network with other local watch collectors through clubs, organizations, meet-up groups, etc. Take your time and do a little local research.

Do you mind sharing the details of the local chap? I've been abroad for 11 years and now back in South Africa.. Based in Durban and battling to find good, reliable watchmakers anywhere in South Africa.

So, it is indeed a 14381.
Given that it is denoted ‘1’, then it’s likely that it is the first version from 1959.
This could well explain why it has the earlier style dial.

What you mean it’s lost a significant part and fallen to the ground several times? Or did you mean Airbus which are rather more reliable? Or so the press would have me believe.

Safest airplane by any measurable metric is the 737.

the shear number of them and the amount of flight hours added every day will most likely create a record never to be broken.
