Hi, I am new to this forum and know very little about this watch. This was my fathers every day watch before he passed away. Since inheriting it I have gone online to learn more about it. The more I learn the more questions I have.
It is a 16 jewel model depose steel case. The case # is 10253587, the mechanism # is 9631307 which I believe dates it to 1939.
I assume the case and mechanism were made in different years then married to put it on the market?
Try as I might I cannot find any images online that exactly match this watch face. Did Omega make that many different faces in 1939?
I would appreciate any insights your members might have regarding this watch.

    Thank You, Hilary

I have seen similar dials before, in a ref 2179. Here is an example, but if you Google "omega 2179" you will find others. The movement appears to be a 30T2 SC, as you probably know. I believe your dial is original, and also the hour and minute hand. I do not recall seeing that seconds hand before, but it appears to be the right size, so perhaps it is original. Other forum members who are experts in these old Omega watches will be able to tell you more about the case and specific reference of your watch.

Somebody else please give the OP some opinions on this. I don't trust my expertise. :)

    OK, here goes...

I think that this dial is original to the watch, and the whole thing dates from 1942-44, although the movement could be a year or two older. This is a civilian, not a military model.

It is known that this style of radial numeral dial existed before the US Army models of 1944-45. I think this is such an example. One major difference between this dial and the Ref. 2179/2384 dials is that yours does not have Swiss Made on the bottom. I still think it is original and correct based on the branding.

I would suggest that you try to find out from Omega what the case reference was and to try to get proper case screws to secure the movement in the case.

Hands are OK, IMO. But I'm not sure about the seconds hand. Anything is possible with vintage Omega.
