Morning guys I recently acquired an Omega 186.0002. I am having an issue with the lcd, sometimes its nice and bright and other times its feint. I changed the batteries but to no avail, any idea what els it can be?

    Corroded battery terminals?

Remove the battery top plate and then the batteries.

Check the top plate where it touches the batteries. Make sure it is clean and bright and no signs of residue. Clean with a pencil eraser if any crud is there. Wipe clean with an isopropyl alcohol pad.

Inspect the two negative prongs/tabs for the same thing and clean of necessary.

Make sure the batteries are clean in the same way as above and don't handle with metal tweezers when replacing.

An update. I have noticed that when the watch is on date mode and on 2, 12, 22 it burns bright but any other date then the lcd burns light

I have seen that on several LCD watches and experienced this on my own 186.0004.

Didn’t find any other workaround than having the LCD screen replaced. Sorry for bad news...

I would caution that using a pencil eraser can leave debris in the movement, so if you are going to use this tip proceed with caution. BTW something more abrasive is actually a better choice...small piece of fine sandpaper is what I use and it has far less potential for leaving debris behind.

    Cheers, Al

Sorry, but if you think this means that it's okay to have debris in the movement, then we will agree to disagree...

    Cheers, Al
