To borrow from a man named after a river depth:
There are lies, damned lies and watch sales statistics.

It all depends on the base line cost of each watch as to which is performing better. (I.e. achieves the greatest return)
In its simplified form, according to the chart your best bet is Longines.
Except that if you have a £100,000 Patek it might realise £103,000 at 3%
Whereas a £1000 Longines might realise £1039 at 3.9%.

There definitely has been a recent increase in used prices, I’ve noticed a lot of models going for more than late 2025.

I think a big part of that is Omega pricing has moved north of most of their existing customer base, and that gap between high end Longines and entry level new Omega is really being filled by the used Omega market.

Interesting convo I recently had with a friend of mine who wants to get her fiancé a watch for their wedding

White glove service of old doesn’t cut it anymore with Under 30s and those who have grown up with online shopping - product over experience and even for a special occasion she wants to go secondary and get maximum value of product

I think you’re very right in that respect.

There’s another aspect, historically ladies watches have really not held value well, part of that I think was due to them being more of an era style wise, but the bigger element is a lot of women did not buy used, and didn’t want to be gifted a used watch.

That changed somewhat with millennial women and much more so with Gen Z, vintage, thrifting, and prioritising value over the retail experience are very much a big thing now.

When does this bullshit stop? Who cares? Flipper bros?
All of our watches eventually move on, no need to obsess over pricing, but it's relevant in the long run.

I'll take 1.7% of Rolex resale over 1.9% of Omega resale any day...

I do agree with the rest of the thread, millennials see less value in the personal touch by companies as trust in companies has completely eroded over time, I can't speak for gen Z but I fully believe it will be even more true for them. I had planned to buy my next Omega from a boutique just to tick the box to have had the experience, but frankly with the price disparity of new vs. used it's a pretty terrible financial decision to do so.

Click bait works! 😀

Finaly some good news. Omega "outperforms" Rolex with 0,2 % in the secondary market. And silly me was thinking that some orange man had destroyed the world economy.

Or does this mean its time to sell my Seamaster and invest in Submariners??

Hey wait a minute! I LIKE Omega being the scrappy little kid brother that can never get a break. That's what we do!

One thing I actually like about the younger kids is that they don't put as much stock in getting their ass kissed by some hack salesman at a boutique as many of my and my parents generations do. I've never understood the person who thinks they are getting something special by buying from a boutique instead of buying on the secondary market.

The fruth is that ALL traditional watches -- yes, Rolex, even you -- are likely to go with the dinosaurs. It's just a question of how long it will take.
