Hello everyone, I just registered on this forum. I'm starting to have a devouring passion for Omega watches.

I bought this watch recently for €1000. Maybe I did a mistake. It’s for my mum. The caliber is a But I can't identify it, I have the impression that the bezel around the glass is missing. Am I wrong if it's missing is difficult to find? The caliber is a R17.8. Thank you very much

On the bright side the 18K gold case is probably worth $1K USD regardless of the verdict that I suspect will follow this post.

Unless you have old catalogs from the 1930’s it will be difficult to identify.

It’s pretty obvious that the dial has been refinished, but it has a genuine Omega case and movement.

Well bought IMO.

I don't see how there would be any space for a bezel surrounding the crystal. Do you meaning a retaining ring inside the crystal?

Hi, the closest ref I found is 2295, here in stainless steel in a 1943 catalog :

In gold the ref would then be OT2295. Seems to appear on an advertising on p.140 of AJTT, qualified as ultra-thin watch.

The dial has obviously been (badly) redone, this will affect the collecting value of the watch.
